Statement of Food Contact Suitability

In 2019 BALTIC STICKS has invested in comprehesinve chemical and microbiological investigations of wooden Ice Cream Sticks. Three types of wood were selected for the research: beech wood, birch wood and linden. The aim of the research was to show how they differ from each other whether there are any significant differences affecting changes in nutritional features, as well as to check their suitability for use in Ice Cream Industry.

In cooperation with the independent German laboratory “Eurofins Consumer Product Testing GmbH”, an optimal accredited test plan for wooden ice cream sticks, which is has a direct contact with various types of ice cream (juice, cream, soft and hard gelato), has been selected in accordance with EU and national German legislation.

The research made it possible for BALTIC STICKS to assure that the wooden ice cream sticks produced by the company are safe, high quality and do not change the organoleptic (taste) properties of the ice cream in contact with food.
